Just Draw It - Going for Broke!
April 27, 2009
Time flies when you're having fun. The last time I wrote I was headed down to Los Angeles to take a new job, and I finally made it down here just in time to escape the tail end of a cold Canadian winter. Since I've been down here I've been absolutely crazy busy balancing the day job working in video games and also preparing a brand new course for you all to enjoy. I totally lost track of time, and that's why this newsletter is coming out near the end of the month.
So a little more info about the title of this edition of Just Draw It -- Going for Broke! Sometimes you just have to throw down the gauntlet and go for what you are after. That's what I've been doing this past month getting this course ready for you and I encourage you to do the same thing with your own art. If you really want to make some progress, you gotta Go for Broke and set aside the unimportant to make room for what you need to be focusing on.
It can be a bit daunting to learn a new drawing technique or practice a style to perfection, but you have to know that the time you spend now will continue to give you rewards for your entire life. So do yourself a favor, and tell that ole' brain of yours that come hell or high water you are going to put in the time to improve as an artist!
If you'd like to take a peak at what I've been cooking up in the wee hours of the morning and the sleepless nights infront of the laptop go checkout the new site dedicated to learning how to draw caricatures.

From the Mailroom:
Hello,
I am very interested in attending cartoon lessons. For the last several months, I have been trying to find a cartoon institute or academy but it seems like there is no one in the DC area. Please let me know if you’re located or have branch office in Washington DC so I can discuss with you regarding my cartoon aspirations.
Sam
Hi Sam,
I've got some good news and some bad news for you. First here's the bad news: I'm currently located in California, with no way to make it to the DC area. Sorry about that!
The good news, is that I'm rapidly finishing up what will be my most complete course ever, and the best part is that the course will be available on CD so you can get it and study in the comfort of your own home. This course will teach you how to sandwich the skills of portrait and cartoon together as you learn how to draw fantastic looking caricatures.
If this is interesting for you I've put up a blog where I will be posting more information about this new course in the coming days. Here's the link for you: http://www.caricaturesecrets.com/blog/. Feel free to leave me a message on the site about any comments or concerns that you might have about this caricature course.
Best wishes!
Mitch
In the Works:
First, I'd like to personally thank everyone who took the survey about the upcoming course. Your comments have really helped me jam pack as much info as I can into this course. So once again thank you for that - I really appreciate it, and remember that you are free to drop me a line whenever you like via the contact form on DrawingCoach.com.
Next I would like to thank everyone who has left me kind words over the past 2 years. I know this is long overdue, but I've finally added a way to show your comments on the site. If you go to any page of DrawingCoach.com you can see the comments on the right side of the page. So - again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Ok, if for some reason you missed the announcement at the top of the page... you can now see what's been getting me out of bed early in the morning and keeping me up way past my bed time by heading over to http://www.caricaturesecrets.com/. And if you're REALLY interested in getting the latest info, there's even a signup form that I will be sending the latest developments and behind-the-scenes type info to for those of you who are absolutely crazy about learning how to draw caricatures - I know there's more than a few of you out there! Don't miss out on your chance.
Whew - this was one heck of a newsletter... I'm going to cut things short so I can get back to work on this course and updating the blog. Until next time, pick up a pencil, pen or marker and - GO FOR BROKE!
